but first, what do you need?
Q: Where are you located?
Our storefront is located at 383 Broad Street, right in the center of Bloomfield. You can find us across the street from the Town Pub.
Q: Where can I park?
There is metered street parking all along Broad Street, and there is also a municipal parking lot across the street behind Town Pub. You can download the ParkMobile app to easily pay for parking through your phone. Please allow extra time in case parking is busier on a particular day. Meters are free before 8 or after 6 Monday through Saturday and all day Sunday.
Q: What is your COVID masking policy?
We have dropped our mandatory masking policy and will no longer be checking vaccine cards. Teachers are not at liberty to change this policy, please contact Taryn or Kristin at info@irisyoganj.com if you have questions or concerns. We will continue to review this policy against local regulations and adjust as needed. Anyone who feels more comfortable masking are always welcome to do so!
Q: What should I bring?
A: We do have mats, blocks, bolsters, and anything you would need on hand to take any of our classes. We ask that you bring your own mat if you have one and a towel or pillow case if you plan to use a bolster. Bring a water bottle and wear comfortable clothing you can move in.
Q: When should I arrive for class?
Please allow extra time on your first visit to get signed in and familiar with our space. The door will be locked when class begins and we will try our best to start on time to respect everyone's schedules.
Q: How should I prepare and what should I expect?
Look at the online schedule and decide what class time and type will fit best. All of our classes are meant for Yogis of all levels. Our instructors are trained to give modifications to new clients as well as additional challenges to more seasoned Yogis. However we suggest starting with a Gentle Beginner class before moving on to one of the Flow classes. Please bring any props or borrow ours before class begins and take a minute to use the restroom if needed so that you can relax into your space for the entirety of class. We ask that you leave your cell phone in the cubbies (door will be locked) and do your best to remain present during class. If you have any concerns or injuries, please take a moment to discuss with your instructor before class so they are aware of any modifications they may need to make for you. Enjoy your class and reach out to us any time with questions!
Q: Do I need to sign up online or make a reservation before class?
A: The online reservations are a great way to commit to coming to class. Classes may fill up OR they might be cancelled if there is no one signed up by a certain time, so reserve your spot ahead of time through FitDegree. Plus it allows our instructors to properly prepare the space.
Q: What is your Cancellation Policy?
A: All in-person classes require a 6-hour notice to cancel. All virtual classes require a 2-hour notice to cancel. For classes being held before 8am, cancellations are required before 9pm the night before. Classes not cancelled in time will be removed from your class pack. Unlimited members will be charged a $10 no-show fee for late cancellations.
Workshops, Specialty Class, Training, or Event cancellations required a 48 hour email notice before the workshop takes place (unless otherwise stated for that event). Cancellation requests with less than 48 hours notice will not be honored unless we can fill your space.Workshop, party, field trip, and event cancellation requests must be requested by email to: info@irisyoganj.com
Absence to a Workshops, Specialty Class, Training, or Event is non refundable. Workshops, Specialty Classes, Trainings, or Events could occasionally be canceled by the facility. If your event is canceled you will be notified by email, and you will receive a full refund or full credit toward your account if you choose.
Q: Is my first class free?
A: Our current Drop-In class is $30. We at Iris pay our teachers a competitive teaching rate because of the various high quality trainings they have taken. As such, our pricing reflects the ability to continue to provide high quality instruction at our studio. We do offer a New Client Special that gives you unlimited classes for 21-Days for only $59. We believe you should have the chance to take as many different classes as you can before you decided what package or membership works best for you. Make sure you check out our Packages page for current rates!
Q: Do you offer Hot Yoga?
A: No. We do not currently offer hot yoga classes.
Q: I am not Flexible. Can I still take Yoga?
A: Inflexibility or even over flexibility are exactly why you DO take yoga. We are very motivated to bring yoga to everyBODY, because we know how important functional mobility is to your day to day life. We will help you build strength and flexibility (both mentally and physically). We work with clients of all ages, shapes, and sizes who are either brand new to physical activity or regularly attend CrossFit classes and the like.
Q: How old does my child need to be to attend a studio class?
A: We believe that a parent has a better sense as to the maturity level of their child than we do! If yoga is something that your child would like to do and you know they can handle a one-hour class without being distracted, they are welcome to join. We do require an adult to be in class with any child under 16 taking a regular class.
Q: I am pregnant. Can I practice Yoga?
A: Congratulations and Yes! When you are pregnant, there are modifications that must be made in a normal yoga class. Most of our teachers are certified to teach pre-natal classes and/or trained in the proper modifications to give to an expectant mother. Please let your teacher know prior to the start of class so they can offer you the necessary adjustments. We can also offer private, pre-natal classes with Kristin or Taryn to either help ease you into a regular class or continue you your practice if you no longer feel comfortable in a regular class.
